Congregational Program Meeting & Lunch - May 31, 2009

The 2008-2009 program year at St. Andrew's is drawing to a close. Please join us on Sunday, May 31st following the Pentecost worship service for a time of reflection on the past year and a look forward to our plans and goals for next year.

The Christian Education Committee will be hosting the meeting this year, and the youth group will be providing and serving a delicious lunch for us. Don't hesitate to stay for the meeting if you have children: It won't be TOO long, and there will be child care provided by some of our youth if needed.

Copies of the annual program report are available at the church (if you missed picking one up last Sunday). See you on Sunday!

Bike, Walk, or Run for Camperships - June 6, 2009

Camp ChristopherCome out for a fun day of fitness and fellowship, and raise money to send a kid to Camp Christopher this summer. The event begins at 3:00 p.m. and we'll finish off with a potluck BBQ around 5:30 p.m.

How can you take part?
  1. Make a donation to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, and mark it as "Camperships".
  2. Join the group on Saturday, June 6th at 3 p.m. to bike, walk, or run for camperships.
  3. Sponsor someone (per km or with a flat rate) to bike, walk, or run for camperships.
  4. Come out to encourage the bikers, walkers, and runners, and stay for the BBQ celebration, or volunteer your time to cook burgers or hand out water.
Our collective goal is to walk, bike or run a total of 400 km. That would take us all the way to camp and back again! And if we have at least $5.00 per km in sponsorships, we'll raise $2000 - enough to send about 12 kids to camp.

Pick up brochures and sponsorship forms from the church. They have all the details, including the routes for three circuits (4 km, 7 km, or 10 km) along the river from the church.

Oh, and both the St. Andrew's ministers will be riding their bikes... Sponsor Gwen or Amanda, and see how far they can ride!

We're Famous! (At least in the online Presbyterian community!)

Did you know that the Communications Office of the Presbyterian Church in Canada is trying hard to connect Presbyterians across the country?

Through PCConnect, we can hear about what is happening in the church all over Canada... through PCConnect-Daily, a daily news feed on the website, PCConnect-ENews, Facebook & Twitter, and the PCConnect-Pak (a traditional paper package mailed out to churches 4 times/year)... we are staying connected with the wider Presbyterian Church in Canada.

The latest PCConnect tool is PCConnect-TV. It's a weekly video that started being produced a couple of weeks ago. And St. Andrew's, Saskatoon is featured in the May 1, 2009 episode! We're famous! Well, a little famous...

You can check it out online at PCConnect TV or watch the video of the week from our own church website. It's posted at the top of the left-hand column. (If you click on the picture after the video starts, it will take you to YouTube where you can watch it full screen.)

Men of the Bible: Next Topic for Sunday Morning Bible Study

The Sunday Morning Bible Study group is beginning a new topic this Sunday (May 3, 2009) and we hope that you will come out and join our group. We meet in the parlour at the church at 9:30 a.m.

You're invited to use the parking lot side door, and to stop by the kitchen for a cup of coffee or tea before making your way up to the parlour.

Our new topic is "Men of the Bible". We studied quite a few women of the bible earlier this year, so we thought we should learn about a few of the men too. We'll be starting with Abraham, and then looking at some others including Jacob, Moses, Elijah, David, and Peter.
