Summer Worship: Sundays at 10:00 a.m.

Don't be late! During the months of July and August, Sunday worship begins at 10:00 AM.

The sun is rising very, very early these days, so hopefully you'll be up earlier and ready to worship God a little earlier too. And perhaps you can go out from worship at St. Andrew's to continue to worship God as you enjoy God's creation and some beautiful summer Sundays.

Are you travelling this summer? Take the opportunity to worship with a local Presbyterian Church or a church of another denomination wherever you are staying. Take a holiday from work. Take a holiday from your usual routines. But don't take a holiday from your true purpose of glorifying and enjoying God.

Have a wonderful summer everyone, whether you're worshipping with us at St. Andrew's (at 10:00 a.m.) or wherever your travels take you. We will return to the regular worship hour of 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6th.

Camp Christopher Summer Ministry

Many of our children and youth are counting down the days until it's time to go to camp. Our church camp, Camp Christopher, is a shared ministry of the Presbyterian Church in Canada (Synod of Saskatchewan) and the United Church of Canada (Riverbend Presbytery). It is an important ministry within our church community, and one that St. Andrew's has always valued and supported strongly.

Camp Christopher's 3rd Annual Open House is taking place on Saturday, July 4th, and you are welcome to attend. Between noon and 5:00 p.m. we’ll enjoy a casual afternoon of games, swimming, canoeing, worship and, of course, food! Bring a lawn chair, bring a new camper, bring a friend and join us as we commission our 2009 staff and bless them as they lead in this important ministry.

The camp is also still recruiting male counsellors and volunteers. Help out for a day or a week, or for the whole summer! They'd love to have you. If you are interested in joining them or know someone who is, please e-mail info@campchristopher.ca or call 982-4534.

Thank You, John van Driel! - Sunday, June 21, 2009

For several years, John van Driel’s appearance at St. Andrew’s was a daily occurrence as he faithfully served his Lord and church by volunteering his services, doing yard work and other caretaking duties. Last fall, John experienced some health issues that kept him away from his usual volunteering at the church. John has been unable to return to “work”, and has been greatly missed, but we are happy that he has been feeling well enough recently to begin attending church on Sundays again.

Please join us following worship on Sunday, June 21, 2009, for cake and coffee as we show our appreciation to John for the time and devotion he has given to St. Andrew’s over many years.

Greetings from the Stewardship Committee

As summer approaches (we hope), we look forward to the refreshing and rejuvenating relaxation that holidays bring.

Please remember that while we might be on holiday, the needs of the church continue. This is especially true this year as we face a deficit budget. We encourage you to continue with your offerings, preferably by bringing them when you come to worship. However, you can also mail them, and post-dated cheques are an option. Perhaps this is a time to prayerfully consider the PAR system of automatic pre-authorized giving.

As we travel great distances, or stay close to home, let us also remember to respect the nature around us and use our resources responsibly.

The Stewardship quip from last Sunday’s bulletin summed it up wonderfully:

How we use and manage God’s gifts affects far more than our economic life. We are stewards in our use of God’s creation, in our personal relationships,in our political and ecclesial institutions, in our work, and in our use of time. Indeed, we are stewards of the gospel itself -- the good news entrusted to all of us in the church. (Bruce C. Birch)

Have a great summer.

Your Stewardship Committee
